To comply with the US Patriot Act, our custodian, Goldman Sachs, is required to verify each client’s identity. Their system attempts to auto-verify every client. Unfortunately, at times it is unable to do so which will result in an error when creating the account. This can be for a number of reasons including a typo in the client’s date of birth or Social Security number, a recent name or address change, or any combination of the aforementioned.
Please verify that the information provided on the account application is accurate. If there is a simple typo (one character off or a transposition of two otherwise correct characters), please reply to the validation email you received and we may be able to correct it without documentation. If the information is accurate, Goldman Sachs will need to manually validate the following information:
- Legal name
- Primary address
- Date of birth
- Social Security number
Please reply to the validation email you received with a copy of the account owner’s government-issued identification card or driver license and Social Security card. Alternatively, you may fax them to (630) 206-0757, referencing the ticket number from the validation email. If your client does not have the documents requested, please contact Advisor Services at 800-949-9936, option 2.
