Outgoing Transfers from Goldman Sachs

ACAT Transfers

For accounts leaving Goldman Sachs to ACAT-eligible firms:

  • The receiving firm must submit the transfer request electronically via the ACAT system
  • Any ACAT-eligible transfer requests submitted via physical mail, email, or fax will be rejected
  • For reference: Goldman Sachs' DTC# is 0728

Non-ACAT Transfers

IMPORTANT: Send all paperwork directly to Goldman Sachs, never to Freedom. Sending to Freedom will cause significant delays.

    Signature Requirements

Outgoing transfers have different signature requirements based on the transfer amount:

    • Transfers under $100,000: Standard client signature only
    • Transfers between $100,000.01 and $999,999.99: Both client signature and notarized signature (or medallion guarantee). Note that the notary seal must be in the same state as the client.
    • Transfers of $1,000,000 or more: Both client signature and medallion signature guarantee stamp

    Important Considerations

    To ensure smooth outgoing transfers:

    • Before initiating transfers: Submit a Terminate/Cease Management Service Request in Freedom Advisors’ portal before submitting an outgoing transfer. This limits account activity (trades, dividends, interest) that would cause a transfer rejection.
    • For accounts requiring a liquidation: Submit a Terminate/Liquidate Service Request in Freedom Advisors and ensure all trades are settled before submitting an outgoing transfer. If you do not have LPOA, you'll need a client-signed Trading Letter of Instruction.
    • Signature requirements: All client signatures on transfer forms must be dated within 60 days of submission.
    • Handling rejected transfers: The receiving firm must resubmit any rejected transfer requests. Goldman Sachs cannot reinitiate an outgoing transfer once rejected.
    • Residual balances: Goldman Sachs automatically performs residual sweeps for full ACAT transfers only. For non-ACATs and partial ACAT transfers, you must submit a new transfer request to sweep any remaining balances.
